Ae Ja Mobley

Ae Ja has been with the Silent Dance Center since 1977. She has an Intermediate Senior 3 Iyengar certification, and has studied with the Iyengars in India six times and at six national conventions. Her dynamic classes offer a multicultural dimension including commentary in Japanese and Korean.

Glenn Kawana

Glenn has taught at SDC since 1977. He has studied directly with the Iyengar family on numerous trips to India and during their many visits to the U.S. since 1981. Glenn is a graduate of the Iyengar Yoga Institute in San Francisco, a licensed massage therapist and has a B.A. in the Psychology & Physiology of Exercise. He has been an Iyengar teacher assessor for the National Association (IYNAUS) since 2004.

Sandi Jordan

A teacher at SDC since 1977, Sandi is the author of two books, Yoga with a Partner and Yoga for Pregnancy (also translated into Japanese). She studied with BKS and Geeta Iyengar 5 times in India and at 8 national conventions. Sandi enjoys introducing yoga to beginners and guiding continuing students deeper into the "how" and "why" of yoga. Sandi has an Masters of Education in counseling and guidance, many years of experience as a Hawaii School Counselor, and is now an active Mediator with a private counseling practice.

Chris Havener

Chris is an Intermediate Junior 3 Iyengar certified teacher. She has practiced since 1989 and has taught at Silent Dance Center since 1996. She began her studies in Boston with Patricia Walden and continues to study regularly with Lois Steinberg. Since 2000, she has spent an accumulated eight months of study with the Iyengar family in Pune, India. Chris manages to temper her serious devotion and dedication to the study of yoga with doses of insightful humor. Her clear, focused teaching communicates to and inspires her students to continue on the path of Yoga.

Purnima Manghnani

Purnima Manghnani is an Intermediate Junior 1 Iyengar certified teacher. She began her study and practice of Iyengar Yoga in 2007 and immediately felt its transformative potential. Born and raised on O’ahu, Purnima has been a student of the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute - the mother institute of Iyengar Yoga worldwide in Pune, India - since 2010. She recently completed three and a half years of study at the Institute, learning directly from the Iyengar family and assisting in the therapeutic classes. Purnima holds a Master of Public Health degree and worked as a researcher for a decade in the areas of women’s health, violence and incarceration.

Ann-Marie Brege

Ann-Marie has a Master's degree in Public Policy from the University of Michigan and a post graduate degree from the Ecole Nationale d'Administration in Paris. She began her yoga studies as a student in Paris and then after working in Thailand and Cambodia, she began her studies of Iyengar yoga at the Silent Dance Center in 1993. She continued her Iyengar studies in New York from 1997 through 2004.

Jim Dillman

Jim is a decorated Vietnam veteran and retired firefighter. He used yoga to overcome the devastating experience of war and to relieve the stress of a rigorous career. He has practiced yoga since 1970 and Iyengar Yoga since 1977. Jim taught at SDC in 1978-81 and rejoined our teaching staff in 1999.

Catherine Hage

Catherine has been a dedicated practitioner of Iyengar yoga since 1993, started teaching in 1999, and earned Iyengar certification in 2005. With a master’s degree and licensing in Social Work, mental health concentration (MSW, LSW) and training as a Doula, she is inspired by and deeply grateful for the healing power of yoga for the body, mind and spirit in her own life, and in teaching students of diverse ages and abilities. She is delighted to welcome new and returning students to the SDC community.

Valerie Hobensack

Valerie has been studying Iyengar Yoga since 1986 and teaching since 1992. She truly believes Iyengar Yoga is the holistic way to health.

Deb Lau

Deb Lau has been studying Iyengar yoga since 2003, teaching since 2012, and is Iyengar certified. She is grateful to all of her teachers for their wisdom, guidance and generosity.

Alison Mito

Alison started Iyengar yoga in 1978 and has been teaching at SDC since 1993. She has attended two national Iyengar conventions and is working towards Iyengar certification. Alison practiced yoga throughout her two pregnancies and welcomes expectant women to her classes.

Eunice Sakai

Eunice has been practicing Iyengar yoga since 1978, has studied with the Iyengars in India and the US. She has taught yoga since 1985 at SDC and other Honolulu locations. Eunice holds a Master's Degree in Public Health and is a licensed massage therapist.
