NEW CLASS!! Thursday Free Class with Supin (starts July 16, 2026)
THIS CLASS IS A FREE COMMUNITY OFFERING.
This Level 1A class is for students new to Iyengar Yoga and continuing Iyengar Yoga students. Focus is on fundamental postures and concepts of alignment, breathing and relaxation. A wide range of postures are practiced: standing, seated, twists, forward bending and back bending, and restorative. Students will learn to use props and modify their postures as needed. Sarvangasana (shoulder stand) is introduced but alternatives to inversions are given. (60 minutes)
Supin Wongbusarakum has taught Iyengar Yoga in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and Honolulu. She believes Iyengar Yoga is a powerful path to holistic physical health, mental strength, and greater peace and resilience in both personal relationships and society. Supin brings this intention into her teaching, where she is working toward Level 2 certification.
She is a conservation social scientist with a Ph.D. in Human Geography from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She is currently the Managing Director of One People One Reef, a nonprofit organization that supports traditional resource governance through the application of Western science. She also serves as a mentor for Fellows of the David H. Smith Postdoctoral Conservation Research Fellowship Program, helping them strengthen the human dimensions and impact pathways of their research projects.
Supin is fluent in English, German, Thai, and Teochew, and has a basic knowledge of French. She is also a passionate ceramic artist.
